For a conference presentation, I was in Nottingham (Nottinghamshire, England) on early July 2015. This city is located within the East Midlands where it is approximately two hundred kilometers north of London, and is well known as the location of the English folklore tale of Robin Hood. The pictures show the inside and outside condition of a bar-restaurant Pitcher&Piano (High Pavement, Nottingham), which is a historic repurposed church.

I saw by chance the garbage can of “BigBelly Solar” in the market districts of Nottingham. The functions were shown in the previous issue of Chester, please see it. By the way, I found it astonishing. Someone, maybe he is a senior citizen, wrote and put a message on the side of the garbage can. Should I stop smoking too?

I found a silver rare litter bin which has three openings for general waste, cigarettes and recyclable trashes. I am very curious to know if any city in the U.K. separates cigarette butts and chewing gum disposal in the same way as Japan. In Japan, chewing gum packages come with small papers that are used to wrap the gums when done. This is then tossed into regular garbage slot. In Japan, cigarette waste has its own disposal slot and are not treated as regular garbage.

The green bins of the shop are used for garbage collection by the local government.

By the way, I stopped by the Lake District in North West England during my visit to Nottingham. It took several hours by car from Nottingham to Lake Windermere (Cumbria, England). The picture on the right shows a bin of sophisticated design in the park near the lake.

The conference which we attended hosted a dinner party at Pitcher&Piano (NG1 1HN). The dishes and beers were fantastic. We appreciated the hospitality of the staffs and organizers.
See you soon in the next issue!
